William “Bear “Stephenson

William, “Bear” Stephenson of Clinton is a graduate of Clinton High School, where he was a state 4-H Club president and a delegate to Boys State where he was Governor. He earned a Bachelor of Science in Business Management from Tennessee Technological University in 1970. There he served as Freshman Class President, as a student government officer for two years and was a member of ROTC. Upon graduating, Mr. Stephenson was commissioned as a 2ND Lieutenant US Army combat engineer and Mr. Stephenson held various positions in several East Tennessee banks from 1972-1976. He began a career in real estate in 1976 as a developer and builder in Anderson County.  In 1982 he started Stephenson Realty and Auction and has operated it since that time. He graduated from the Nashville Auction School in 1983 and in 1988 he became a certified auctioneer from the certified Auctioneer Institute at the University of Indiana. He was the first auctioneer in Anderson County.

Mr. Stephens has previously served as the vice president and president of the Anderson County Board of Realtors, and from 1988-1992 he was the East Tennessee vice president and director of the      Tennessee Auctioneers Association. He served as president of the Tennessee Auctioneer Association 1992-1993. In 2004 Governor Bredesen appointed him to the Tennessee Real Estate Commission of which he was elected chairman in June of 2012. He is an inductee of the Tennessee Auctioneers Association Hall of Fame.

In addition to his involvement with many professional organizations, Mr. Stephenson also has given much of his time to civic groups. He has served on the board of East Tennessee Public Broadcasting  since 2002 and has served as their chairman since 2010. He served as the campaign chair for the United Way of Anderson County in 2005 and was the only chairman of the board of Community Bank of East Tennessee from the time it was established in 1998 until it was sold in June 2012. He has been a member of the Anderson County Industrial Bond Board since 1982 and is currently their chairman. From 1981-2002 he was on the board of Melton Hill Regional Industrial Development Association. He is a  1989 graduate of the Anderson County chamber of Commerce Leadership of Anderson County class. He     is a past chairman of the Anderson County Chamber of Commerce, past present of the Clinton Rotary Club, and former member of the United way in Anderson County Board of Directors. He is a former vice president of the East Tennessee chapter of Tennessee Young Democrats and a former president of Anderson County Young Democrats. Mr. Stephens is a charter member of the Tennessee 4-H Alumni Association and past chairman of the Boys State Committee. He serves as music director and as a member of the board of trustees at Pleasant Hill Baptist Church. He is a member of American Legion post 172 and the Junior Achievement of East Tennessee Board. He was named Jaycee Outstanding Young Man of the year in 1988 and was the Tennessee Young Democrat of the year in 1983.

Mr. Stephenson uses his distinctive talents as an auctioneer to give back to the people and organizations of East Tennessee by conducting more than 65 auctions each year that benefit many local charitable organizations including March of Dimes, United Way, Oak Ridge Arts Council, Boys and Girls Clubs of the Tennessee Valley, Dream Connection, Make-A-Wish Foundation, Friends of the Great Smoky Mountains, Knoxville Museum of Art, Cystic Fibrosis Foundation and the Oak Ridge Women’s Club among many others.

My Family and I are extremely happy to be back in beautiful East Tennessee. After serving 20 years and six combat deployments to Iraq and Afghanistan in the Army as an Infantry Officer we have decided to follow our passion to open JD's Auctions., LLC in beautiful Knoxville, TN. After a year in Knoxville we have moved to Historic Downtown Clinton, TN in the heart of the Antique district. 

Jason most recently served as the 4th Brigade 3rd Infantry Division Deputy Commander, and Natalie Served 8 years in the Army and left as a Captain. Both Jason and Natalie worked with Savannah Auction exchange out of Pooler, GA as a relief Auctioneer an online auction specialists. Jason is from Haysi, VA a small town nestled in the Appalachian Mountains. 

Jason began his military service on 03 October 1994 with the Virginia Army National Guard. I graduated from one-station unit training (OSUT) in September 1995, as a Combat Engineer. He enrolled at East Tennessee State University and their ROTC program and earned a Scholarship, while there he majored in Criminal Justice and was commission a 2LT in the Infantry on 05 May 2000. Jason held numerous leadership positions ranging from Platoon Leader through Deputy Brigade Commander. Later Jason attended Webster University earning his Masters of Business Administration M.B.A graduation with honors and a 4.0 GPA. 

In the summer of 2014 he attended the North Georgia school of Auctioneering and earned his Auctioneer licensed after passing the state exam for Georgia then later his Tennessee Auctioneers license. He is a member of the Tennessee Auctioneers Association, and the National Auctioneers Association. 

His military awards and decorations include the Valorous Unit Citation with Oak Leaf Cluster, Joint Meritorious Unit Citation, The Bronze Star Medal with 4 Oak Leaf Clusters, Meritorious Service Medal, Army Commendation Medal with 2 Oak Leaf Clusters, Army Achievement Medal with 3 Oak Leaf Clusters, National Defense Service Medal with Oak Leaf Cluster, Iraqi Campaign Medal with 4 Campaign Stars, Afghanistan Campaign Medal with 3 Campaign Stars, Global War on Terrorism Expeditionary Medal, Global War on Terrorism Service Medal, Army Service Ribbon, Overseas Service Ribbon Numeral 4, Combat Infantryman Badge, Expert Infantryman Badge, Recruiter Badge, Airborne Parachute Badge, Air Assault Badge, Ranger Tab, and Expert Rifle Badge.
